That's when Em just grabbed my phone and said, "I will watch your patients!"
I had a crazy shift one day when my patient, whom I was literally discharging, developed a seizure while I had a brand-new patient arrive and my post-op returned. My head was spinning, trying to control the chaos. Many people came asking what I needed, but it was hard to tell them what I needed because I had no idea where to start! That's when Em just grabbed my phone and said, "I will watch your patients!" She took care of my new admit and did COVID testing so her care could get started. Em took the report for my post-op and made sure that he was stable. She has no idea how helpful that was for me so I could focus on my rapid response! Em was a superhero for me that day. I'm so happy to call her my colleague and work-family.
