A transformational leader who demonstrates advocacy and support on behalf of staff and patients using exceptional role model behavior is Emefa Arnaout. Emefa volunteered to have her team embrace a new initiative for our campus. She listened to and supported them during the rollout of the delirium prevention project. Emefa embraced the challenges of the new project and provided support to the project leader by creating an environment that was free of judgment and showed mutual respect. She was great at not dictating solutions, instead, she created an environment of brainstorming ideas that led to solutions. Once the plan was outlined, Emefa quickly rallied her staff behind the initiative with enthusiasm as she expressed this was not just one more thing for the staff to do, but it was the right thing for our patients and community. You should see her in action and would ask the questions...What makes us great? What makes us unique? What do our patients want from us? Watching her team, you would be in awe as they attend MDDRs prepared to discuss their patients. Later during huddle times Emefa rallies the 5 East troops and initiates the meeting time by yelling, "Five East...Rock Stars", and indeed they are. She has equipped the team by sharing information and delegating certain items to staff members to help them grow and develop as leaders. As a result of her leadership, it is easy to see that her team is equipped with the tools to make decisions in her absence. In addition, she created an environment where the team members feel valued, respected, and trusted. Emefa used her tremendous leadership skills with organizing our magnet parade. Who could forget that day? Emefa ensured that everyone felt essential and a part of the celebration regardless of their title or department. Emefa's leadership skills rock and are appreciated. Her energy and resilience are an inspiration to all around her. Emefa you are an identified asset to The Woodlands and we are proud to serve with you.
