A 24-year-old woman presented to the centre with a history of severe vaginal bleeding and fainted. She was under the impression that she was going to collapse. The Rapid Response team activated, and within minutes the team arrived and took their respective roles, and managed the situation. Out of hypoventilation and the patient developed Carpopedal Spasm which was present on her hands and feet. The team tried their best to convince and counsel her but she did not give us a chance to listen to us. The patient's relatives were immediately contacted by the centre care team and updated them with the information about what had happened. The patient was told about her situation and was stable.

The level of compassion could be seen in this team throughout the whole process. It was indeed wonderful teamwork that allowed the patient to survive.

The other incident is one of the male patient who visited the ENT OPD with complaints of recurring epistaxis along with nasal obstruction and headache. The ENT Physician examined the patient and advised for cauterization and sent him home with oral medications. After some time, the same patient was rushed to the Centre with severe bleeding from the nose and the team activated the rapid response team, the team managed the situation very confidently and professionally. The patient was very anxious and agitated so the team translated and communicated in the patient’s native language conveniently and the patient was understood and felt comfortable. Nasal packing was done and then the patient was transferred to the ER Dept. of tertiary care hospital with the coordination of National Ambulance Service.

The entire sequence of this event was handled professionally by the team members mentioned above without any issues and in an appropriate/effective manner. I could see the level of professionalism exhibited by the staff, and their confidence in carrying out their respective roles. They were very clear in their communication with each other. Respect was shown to the patient and the way they handled the sensitivity of the situation. The patient visited the centre the next day and extended his thanks, and appreciation and applauded the team of NMC Royal Medical Centre, RAK for the care and management provided with hospitality. The patient wished the team the best in future endeavors.
