Emilee Long, RN, was recently honored with a DAISY Award for the care she provided to a patient with a terminal cancer diagnosis.
"Since this patient also was COVID positive, he was unable to have his friends and family at his bedside to support him through this life-changing event," the nomination read. "However, Emilee went above and beyond to ensure that this man received support and a listening ear."
Emilee sat with the patient, listened to his concerns, held his hand during the difficult moment, and comforted him, all while caring for other patients throughout her shift.
"Emilee is a role model to all other nurses on our unit when it comes to supporting our COVID patient population emotionally and always provides top-notch patient care."
