My brother was brought to Carson Tahoe with internal bleeding. He was in critical condition, and it was tough. We were so upset and concerned. This went on for four days and nights. All the staff was so amazing. However, one nurse stood out from the rest.

Emilio was like a breath of fresh air. He had an amazing and positive energy. He was very sincere and caring. My brother was very well cared for. Emilio was kind, attentive, and very supportive. He put my brother's needs as a priority. His spirit was upbeat, and we were confident in the care he provided.

Emilio answered all the questions and concerns we had. He is an asset to the ICU unit. Anyone in his care is lucky to have him.

I cannot thank him enough for his kindness and patience with not only my brother, but our entire family. He made this very difficult and intensive situation less stressful with his positive attitude and support.

We feel that not only does he deserve this award, but that he is the perfect example of balancing the profession of nursing with humanity—being kind, sincere, and caring.

We are grateful to have him in my brother's corner as he fights to stay alive.
