July 2024 Honoree
Emily Beumer, RN
I ended up in the emergency room after work because I was in so much pain, and I needed an emergent appendectomy. I was 15 weeks pregnant and terrified of losing my baby. Medically, everyone referred to my baby as a ‘fetus’ because it was so early on. To me, this is my baby and is everything to me. When I woke up in the recovery room, I saw Emily’s beautiful face. My heart filled with peace. Not only is Emily an intelligent nurse with a kind soul, she made sure my pain was under control and talked me down from a panic attack. What most stood out to me was that she said, ‘We are going to take good care of you and baby.’ She said baby instead of ‘fetus,’ and she had the OB nurses come to listen to my baby’s heart. I was so happy that my baby and I made it through surgery together. Thank you, my friend.
Thank you, Emily, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
