Caroline felt very connected to Emily and could not believe the compassion that she shared, as well as the time she allowed and encouraged both Caroline and her husband to stay with baby H.
In May, I gave birth to my sleeping son. Emily went above and beyond to make sure we were prepared to see him and hold him. She gave our son, H, so much love and gentle touch when caring for him and helping prepare him for us. She went above and beyond to care for me and took the extra step to help me with recovery. She hugged us, she held us, and she cried with us. I truly do not know how I would have survived this experience without her. I am eternally grateful for her kindness, gentleness, and love she gave us. She will always be a core memory of light for us in the darkest day of our lives.

The patient’s Mom also reached out to the CNO and shared her daughter’s story. The patient’s Mom stated: Caroline, my daughter, was admitted in May due to a fetal demise. This was a 3rd loss and the furthest she has made it during a loss. We are fortunate to have a granddaughter who is going on 2, and she is a blessing.

Caroline and her husband arrived at LWR as a preplanned delivery of an IU 5-month fetal demise. She was greeted with smiles, comfort, and care from the beginning and has spoken highly about everyone. When they met Emily Brekhus, their stay went from a 10 to 100. Caroline felt very connected to Emily and could not believe the compassion that she shared, as well as the time she allowed and encouraged both Caroline and her husband to stay with baby H.

Emily is Caroline's reason that she wants to become an RN and wants to work at LWR. Thank you for not looking away, for showing up with compassion when I couldn’t even speak. You were a stranger, but you made me feel less alone. I carry that moment with me, and I carry your kindness too.
