Recently, an elderly patient's urine tested to be positive for UTI. Emily attempted calling the patient in all the contact numbers listed, but none of the phones were answered. she called the police department to help contact the patient and someone transferred to the fire department. Eventually, Emily found that patient and her husband were in a church after their house caught fire. All those phone conversations happened in between patient care in the clinic, and at home on her own private time. It is just so touching to see how Emily can gather all her energy and passion to help vulnerable older patients. Further, I have seen her contact the mobile x-ray company to go to a patient's home and get an x-ray when a patient who fell could not come to urgent care/ED. She herself has been to a patient's home to collect lab work. Also, Emily has initiated safety checks by EMS for patients who have concerning home situations and do not come for scheduled follow-ups. Emily has been an outstanding RN in both senior care primary care clinic and in the house call program.
