May 2021 Honoree
Emily Conner, RN
Emily had a patient who had a brand new G-button and whose mom was illiterate. The home health company sent a nurse that came to the bedside and spent 2 hours educating mom on the feeding pump and home feeds. After the home health nurse left, Emily found that mom still did not understand how to use the feeding pump. Emily took it upon herself to learn how to use that home pump and create a step-by-step picture diagram on how to use the pump. She used colored pictures and numbers that mom could easily match. Emily found a laminating machine to laminate it all before discharge to make sure mom’s references stayed intact. Emily’s actions were inspirational and definitely made an impact on a patient’s care.
Thank you, Emily, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
