Until last night I had not met Emily. Neither had my wife, L, the patient at your hospital. From the moment she entered the exam room assigned to us, she was an agent of change. In an extraordinarily positive way. Your organization should be proud of employees like her. An asset to the hospital and a friend to patients and their families. She made a difference in the following ways: (1) taking the time to explain what/why blood had was taken (2) explaining the magnesium and potassium prescribed for L, (3) pre-cutting the potassium pills for easy crunching/swallowing, (4) bringing warm blankets for my wife during the evening/morning, (5) asking about how we (patient and family) were each time, (6) arranging for a more comfortable bed for L, (7) Arranging for a recliner for me (family) while staying with L.
Basically, I tell my team of workers that perception is 50% of the job. And Emily made certain that our stay at an exam room in your Emergency Department was quite welcomed and easy. She made us feel like family. If Emily was a business card for your hospital, it has left the best impression anybody would want. A great human being with attention to detail. As a former manager and current group lead, I appreciate what Emily represents for Cooper Hospital. She is a DAISY Nurse.
