When I came here, I was over 2 hours away from family and friends and so full of infection I was facing a possible leg amputation. The first time Emily walked into my room I felt like my best friend just arrived. She has the most amazing personality, the thoughts I had about dealing with my life subsided. She somehow knew that I was as low and as terrified as I could possibly get. To be honest, I seriously thought about stocking up on my pills until I had enough to go to sleep and not wake up. But this incredible woman somehow saw through that.
Emily always has a smile on her face and she knew that I was at my end. She didn't blow me off and go to the next room. She talked to me and showed me that I can get through this and leg or no leg, my life is worth living. I never told her or anyone else what I had planned. She knew. And the only reason I'm going home soon is because of her compassion and encouragement and her ability to give of herself to someone she didn't even know. If anyone deserves to be acknowledged for going above and beyond, it is Emily. I will never forget her and what she did for me. She truly is an angel and will be in my heart forever.
