Emily Florian, RN

During my 30+ years as a nurse here at Soutwest General, I worked with many very good nurses, none of whom could outshine Emily Florian. I was fortunate to be assigned to Emily's care during my post-op phase of my double bypass surgery. She, along with the rest of the staff, provided excellent care; however, she went above and beyond. She allowed me to feel and to express the fears, anxieties, and the many different emotions that I was experiencing during that period. She not only allowed me to feel them, but she listened, cared, and understood. She made me feel that I was normal with what I was experiencing and that I was safe and secure. This made it easier for my body to heal. I feel that God created Emily to be a nurse. He granted her special gifts, which she utilizes well. I feel my recovery and my life were greatly enriched by my encounter with Emily. I feel that Emily greatly deserves this award and recognition.
