I had a convergent ablation on a Friday. Emily was my nurse during the day immediately following my surgery.
When I woke up, I was in tremendous pain. I have arthritis in my neck and shoulders, and being in surgery for so long caused it to flare up. Between the surgical pain and the arthritis, I was beyond miserable.
From the moment I opened my eyes, everything Emily did was focused on making me as comfortable as possible. She carefully worked to find the right pain medication to help manage my discomfort. She even asked if she could brush and braid my hair so it wouldn't become matted while I was recovering. She constantly smiled, reassured me, and reminded me that I was doing great.
When none of the dinner options sounded appealing, Emily even took it upon herself to work with the catering team to find something that I would actually be able to eat. It may seem like a small gesture, but at that moment, it meant everything to know someone cared enough to advocate for me in every aspect of my recovery.
There are some people who have a special light within them. They radiate positivity and kindness, and you find yourself feeling better simply because they are there. That is Emily.
She is truly special. She has a remarkable gift for making people feel seen, valued, and cared for. Her compassion, attentiveness, and genuine warmth transformed one of the most painful days of my life into one where I felt safe, supported, and hopeful.
I truly believe God blessed me by placing Emily at my bedside after surgery. She got me on the right path to a speedy recovery, and I will never forget the exceptional care she provided.
Sometimes you meet someone and instantly know they are doing exactly what they were meant to do. Emily is one of those people.
