Emily Fulkerson was taking care of a patient in the ED. The patient did not have any family locally. The patient needed to be admitted to the hospital but was very stressed because he did not have a phone charger and all of his information was in his phone. Emily went to the store to purchase a phone charger for the patient so he would not be stressed. Emily also followed the patient while here to be sure he did not feel alone. This is not an unusual practice for Emily. If you have ever heard her interact with her patients it is clear that she treats them like family. She has been known to use her own money to help them with things that they may want while in the ED if we do not have it but the real gift to them is her care and time. She can bond with the unruliest patients and help get them settled down and engaged with her.
