Most importantly, she treated me like the mom and the wife and the human being that I am and not just a patient.
I was admitted to the 5th floor Ortho unit at 0730 am. I was the sickest I have ever been in my life with a diagnosis of Sepsis. I was exhausted, overwhelmed, in pain and I’d admit in a little shock. I was terrified and panicking in regard to the 4 kids and a puppy that I was leaving at home with my husband. When I met Emily, she welcomed me to the unit. At shift change nonetheless and gave me the best care I could ever have ever hoped for.

Over the next 3 days that she worked, she advocated for me when I was dehydrated and I needed IV fluids, she paged the MD whenever my headache was intolerable and she explained every antibiotic she was giving to me, but most importantly, she treated me like the mom and the wife and the human being that I am and not just a patient. She listened to my sadness in regard to missing my kids' first day of school and asked about the puppy I had only known for a week at home. She was friendly to my husband when he came to visit and reassured my mom when she came, and I was asleep. Emily literally “saved my life” and as a nurse myself of 19 years, I could not have asked for better care! Thank you, Emily, I am forever grateful to you!
