Emily Jensen, BSN, RN

When I think about my experience with nurse Emily, so many things rush to my mind. She literally saved my life, and even though words could never fully explain it, I will try my best. I have had a lot of traumatic experiences. Emily went so far above and beyond that she is my angel. When I say she saved my life, it’s indescribable. I had a traumatic event with numerous injuries. As you could imagine, it affected my will to live so much that I just wanted to die. Then, there was nurse Emily, and like in a movie, an Angel appeared. She instantly changed my life and embraced me; nothing that she learned in medical school. Nothing learned in textbooks. She showed me love, and instantly I had something to live for; all of a sudden, I felt a clarity. In an instant, I wanted to live so I could wake up to see nurse Emily. I longed to see her beautiful face, to hear her voice, and just the presence of her in the room was so amazing. I remember having peaceful thoughts for the first time. Life hasn’t been easy for me. She made me feel like a whole person for the first time in my life. She made me feel some normalcy. She would hug me, tell me I’m worth something and that I was special. Nurse Emily helped me through the hardest time in my life with compassion and strength. She was a saving grace in my life and deserves to be recognized for everything that she’s done for me and undoubtedly countless others.
