Emily Kerr, RN
First Nomination: Emily had a patient with cancer with metastasis to the bone and lungs. This patient was in horrific pain. Emily advocated persistently for proper pain medication with the hospitalist. Emily was the patient's voice when she couldn’t speak. Emily fought for her patient until the patient's pain was under control. Emily is a prime example of a patient advocate. She went above and beyond for this patient.
Second Nomination: I am a hospice representative who came to speak with a family. I was greeted by Emily, who has been advocating for this patient. The patient's pain is uncontrolled, and Emily has been trying everything she can to get the patient comfortable. She was wonderful with the family and patient. She was caring, calming, and a true representative of what a nurse is. Thank you so much, Emily. We are so happy to have you as a partner and advocate for patients.
