Emily was assigned to care for the patient fresh from post-op total knee replacement. On exam, the patient's foot was noted cold and numb with a very weak pulse and with discoloration. Emily came to find me for a quick assessment as she knew to be concerned. Her efforts to relay this abnormality to me quite possibly saved the patient his foot. He was returned to the OR for emergent vascular surgery. The following day the patient was up and about with completely intact neurovascular function of his leg.
