May 2026 Honoree
Emily Leung, RN
Emily was a very compassionate, attentive, and thorough nurse. She carefully listened to all of my needs during my time here after an unfortunate cycling accident. She served as an excellent advocate for me, working with the doctors to ensure that I received the best care possible.
Emily made helpful suggestions throughout the two shifts she was my nurse - answering questions and letting me know what to expect. Her care for me was apparent, treating me with kindness; she embodies that mission of Adventist Health. It was a busy floor, but each time she was here, she had such an encouraging, positive attitude.
I'm so grateful for her. She is what makes this hospital great and a place of comfort when a patient is going through a hard time. Thank you, Emily!

When you think of words that describe a nurse, terms like dedication, compassionate, and supportive might come to mind, but those only scratch the surface when Emily Leung comes to mind. Emily is the picture of exceptional care. Her grace, dignity, patience and compassion and unwavering support made a difficult hospital stay and a confusing discharge much easier to bear.
Throughout my stay at the Cardiac Telemetry Unit, Emily was the face that exuded quiet confidence from the moment she walked in. During my stay, the Cardiac unit was full, and lights were going off right and left; Emily was calm and had a smile each time she came into my room.
I am 94 and then last time I had a medical issue, or I was in the hospital I was 43. Emily’s knowledge was shared in terms that made sense. Her willingness to listen gave me the strength I needed.
When I was told quite suddenly that I was to be discharged, Emily listened to me and my family’s concerns, especially since I live alone. Emily helped facilitate open communication with my care team and explained what my options may be should I wish to appeal the discharge.
Emily reached out to the attending physician and to my heart surgeon to advocate on my behalf all the while she continued to monitor not only my medical care, she supported me emotionally and mentally.
Emily's balanced clinical skills with a warm and genuine personal touch are what nursing used to be; one can only hope that all future nurses will become an Emily.
Thank you, Emily, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
