Emily M Wiess

Emily is a friend and a peer in my cohort. Throughout all 6 semesters, she has consistently shown kindness and compassion not only to all of her patients but also to her peers as well. She is passionate, determined, and unwavering in her love for the profession, and she is destined for greatness. I am motivated and inspired by her every day, and she absolutely deserves to be recognized.

I have countless examples, but one in particular stands out to me. We were both in the same med-surg clinical, and we both had patients who were confused and showing some signs of loneliness. She had learned how to make a teddy bear out of a towel and a tourniquet, and it instantly comforted her patient. I felt moved by it and asked her about it. She took the time to teach me how to make my own bear for my patient, and I routinely use this intervention for my patients now. It has brought countless smiles to my patients’ faces, and I would have never thought of it without Emily.

She is incredible, and she is absolutely the person who reminds me why nursing is so special.
