Watching your son be prepped for surgery, even if it is to repair a broken bone, is a bit stressful. The wonderful thing about St. Mary's nurses is how they recognize that parents may be on edge and need a little TLC too. We are so grateful to Emily Marcoux for her warm greeting, sense of humor, thorough explanations, opportunities to ask questions, frequent check-ins while waiting, gentle care of our son, and how she found a way to connect with him through music interests and sports.

I could write a nomination like this for every staff member we encountered, but chose Emily because of the amount of time she spent with us to make sure all three of us were fine, confident, and at ease.
