Emily takes every opportunity to recognize great catches, research errors, and provide feedback to all employees to improve our processes and ensure the highest quality of care.
At UofL Health- Shelbyville Hospital, we developed a leadership commitment for ourselves and the entire team. One of those commitments is: Acknowledge you as an individual, challenge you to reach your highest potential and recognize your successes. To fulfill that commitment, we chose to honor Emily Miracle, Director of Quality & Patient Safety for her multiple successes in the last year. She led us through many mock surveys for The Joint Commission triennial survey and then, for the first time, was the lead for our leadership team through a very successful actual survey.
Emily takes every opportunity to recognize great catches, research errors, and provide feedback to all employees to improve our processes and ensure the highest quality of care. Something is working when we were able to celebrate our facility going over 1,000 days without a serious safety event.
Not only did Emily help keep our facility focused on safety, but she also pushed herself professionally to become a Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ). That was not the end—only a few weeks later, Emily was recognized as a Healthcare Accreditation Certified Professional (HACP-CMS).
Emily is a firm believer in team and employee engagement. She comes up with fun ways to get the whole hospital involved. Her peers respect her insight and ability to dive deep into any issues so we can learn from them. Her direct reports appreciate her sense of leadership balanced with friendship.
It is our honor to select Emily as the DAISY Nurse Leader of the Year in 2024.
