Emily took care of me during two hospitalizations related to my pregnancy, one being a labor induction which did not progress, and the second being the subsequent labor induction and delivery where my son was born. None of the providers from my OBGYN office were present during my labor and delivery, but Emily’s consistent care and knowledge kept me at ease. She not only got to know my husband and me, but she also advocated for my wishes as per my birth plan when I was in a very vulnerable position and not able to advocate for myself entirely. She also helped me to set realistic expectations that kept me safe and informed. She’s also the only person who noticed my baby's larger-than-expected size, despite my having voiced my concerns about that possibility for weeks beforehand. I truly felt that she cared about my health and my birthing experience. She helped to perfectly time my epidural, keep me calm during a postpartum bleeding scare, and cared for me with dignity and respect during the extremely personal postpartum period. Emily made all the difference in my labor and set the bar for any future labor experiences I may have.
