Emily demonstrated a level of genuine care for him that one usually only sees a mother give her own child.
Throughout the past six months, our son has been hospitalized for three open-heart surgeries, multiple cath procedures, and even an MSSA infection. During this time, we have met many amazing nurses, but none have come close to demonstrating the level of attentiveness to comfort and care that Emily has.
For the past three nights, Emily has cared for our son. Never has she failed for even a moment to show the utmost attention to his comfort. Her first night on shift she carefully covered the parts of his skin where tubes and wires were laying, redressed his IV to place the appropriate foam pad under it to prevent a sore from forming, and cleaned and treated a bedsore that was beginning under his arm.
She was also able to get his overall discomfort/pain under control (something previous shifts had struggled with). Every two hours she thoroughly stripped his chest tubes (far better than anyone previously had), and she checked over every inch of him to make sure he was okay. Emily demonstrated a level of genuine care for him that one usually only sees a mother give her own child. His father and I feel extremely fortunate to have had Emily care for our son these past three nights.
