My twins were born at 35 weeks at College Station Rock Prairie location. During the delivery, one twin was born not breathing. He had to be airlifted out to Temple, placed into cooling therapy and received a litany of tests. My husband and my parents took turns visiting for us, as I was still admitted to College Station for another couple of days.
During this time, Emily treated our families so well. She was kind, patient, and took time to inform them about anything she was doing and answered all questions so thoroughly. When we were finally released from College Station and visited Temple, she was still our nurse for a couple more days on the day shift. My mother-in-law had mentioned how wonderful she was, and I did get to witness her skills first-hand.
This was one of the absolute worst experiences of my life, but Emily made my family feel like involved caretakers, and her communication with me was superb throughout it all. There were several amazing NICU nurses that stood out to me during this time, but Emily was the one that our families continue to applaud even a couple of weeks later.
