Our world was completely shattered when our daughter was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia in 2015. Since that date, however, we have come to know and love so many amazing nurses and caregivers. They mean the world to our daughter and our family and we consider so many of them like our own family. I recently asked our daughter what a few things are she remembers from her initial days, thinking she would remember so much of the dreadful days and hoping she didn't.
Her response was, "I remember meeting Emily Powell on my second day and I remember how nice she was, how she made me laugh, and I remember how she always holds my hand when I'm scared so I feel better". My daughter has been through so much pain and dark times and hearing that one of the things that she recalls the most is how Emily made her feel safe and happy in a time that she was so afraid and sad made me realize that despite all the bad there are so many good things that my daughter may look back on during this time.
Emily is more than just an incredible nurse, she is a confident and dedicated professional who not only goes above and beyond every single shift, but she has amazing compassion and love for her patients, who truly thinks the world of her. Emily has made our daughter smile just from walking in the room time and time again and Emily's huge heart and medical expertise have both aided in our daughter's healing throughout her journey.
