I know it brightened our days and nights. With K lying in bed and me sitting in the chair all day long, when Emily came into the room, it was like a light went on.
Emily was an outstanding nurse (among many there at LDS). She loves her work and speaks highly of her co-workers and manager. She brightened our spirits. Her positive attitude was so helpful, asking about care, needs, offering to get the sheets changed, asking if my wife K needed to get up and go to the restroom (not waiting for K to ask). She was forward-thinking and not just responsive. It made a big difference. After my wife had an episode of supraventricular tachycardia, Emily's actions had a calming effect. The outstanding quality of her work is shown in her performance. K was in the hospital for a total of 5 days, and we couldn't have asked for better treatment from any of the nurses and staff, but Emily really stood out among her peers.
It's easy to say a "positive impact," and it was that and more. I'm sorry I can't find the exact words. We both benefitted from Emily's attention to each detail, explaining to us the whys and wherefores. I know it brightened our days and nights. With K lying in bed and me sitting in the chair all day long, when Emily came into the room, it was like a light went on. And as stated before, every individual who helped us during this week did an outstanding job.
"Value added" is a good term to describe Emily's qualities. She does so much more than what she is paid to do as a nurse. We saw it in her smile, her voice, her willingness to help in any way, her forward thinking, and her ability to anticipate the situations that arose. Her attitude towards co-workers was outstanding. This all added to making our stay at the hospital a really good one, and we are grateful. My wife has now had five back surgeries, and we've been in hospitals for all of these, so we've seen and experienced a lot of things. Nothing better than this most recent stay.
