Emily even called in on her day off to see how this patient was doing.
Emily is one of our core charge nurses; she not only sets a positive example for her peers, but she also does the same for her patients. She approaches her day with confidence and grace. Emily takes her time to assess, advocate, educate, and ensures her patients feel safe and secure. We had a patient on our unit for a couple of weeks and ended being transferred to oncology. This patient didn't want to move because she felt safe with her nursing staff (especially Emily). Even this patient's family members questioned the move because they were appreciative of all involved staff. We reassured them that the oncology staff would be just as caring.
Emily even called in on her day off to see how this patient was doing and during the weekend Emily took time during her lunch break to go check-in and the patient cried with joy. This patient appreciated Emily's compassionate care and her peers appreciate her just the same.
