From the moment I was admitted, Emily was amazing. My first time ever being admitted, and I was scared to death. She came in with smiles and love, making me so comfortable. She sat with me, taking time to explain everything. We created nicknames for all the medications, which really helped me understand what I was taking and what to expect. She checked in, took her time, and even set up my whiteboard with all my med times so I could keep up with it. The next day, when I didn’t have her, she still came by to check in. Her bedside manner is impeccable. Her knowledge and kindness are admirable. My boyfriend accidentally pushed the code blue alarm, and she ran in and said, “Not my girl!”—that meant everything to me. Her smile, demeanor, love, and warmth are not something you can train for. It is something that comes naturally, and she was made to be a caretaker. She deserves all the praise and love. She is one of a kind, and from someone who spent the entire last 2 years in hospitals with my mom and dad, I never met a more special nurse. She truly deserves the DAISY Award. I love Emily, and I didn’t know her before I found this hospital. Keep Shining, Emily!
