I want to recognize Emily for excellence in patient safety and embodying the philosophy of patients first. She cared for a young patient who had a change in condition overnight. This change was a potentially serious one that had the potential to cause loss of limb. Although the medical care team knew about this complication, urgency was not recognized. It was Emily who spoke up, advocated for her patient, and got things moving. She is a true advocate for her patients!
