The entire team, from ER physicians to the unit supervisor and the staff, did an awesome job of navigating this patient and their complexities. I was able to witness firsthand Emily’s compassion and commitment to her patients and their care. Emily’s efforts were a true reflection of our mission as an organization. Emily cared for a patient and her daughter who had several challenges, ranging from a language barrier, knowledge deficit, and comfort. Emily was very calm during this time when communicating with her team members and the patients. Emily went above and beyond to obtain the appropriate language line for communication with the patient. Emily truly advocated for both the patient and the child regardless of how difficult the situation was. An example of this was the child not wanting to eat or drink. Through collaboration, Emily was able to get the child to eat and drink and even put a smile on her face even though she was experiencing pain. These efforts and more display an extraordinary and compassionate nurse!
