Emily expressed genuine caring about my total well-being, not just about what I was going through medically.
I was brought to your hospital from another AdventHealth hospital via ambulance. My test indicated I would likely need bypass. When I arrived at my room, Emily was there waiting for me. All the nurses involved in my care were great. They were caring and very professional. Emily, however, appeared differently from the moment we met. Upon my arrival to my room, Emily was there to welcome me. She made sure my transfer to my bed was made smoothly and safely. Then she made sure that I was comfortable, and I had whatever I needed (water, pillow etc.). I'm sure that other nurses show this concern, but it was the other small things she did that made her special to me and my family. While all the nurses were excellent, Emily was just a bit better. Emily did more than just make regular visits, she was continuously dropping in to make sure the room temp was okay, the lighting was okay, the window shade wasn’t too high or too low, I had eaten my previous meal, and I had ordered my next meal. She would take me out for walks and ask about the test I had done, how my family felt about what I was going through, and what I thought of the doctors who came in to see me. Emily expressed genuine caring about my total well-being, not just about what I was going through medically. Again, other nurses might be able to display this type of caring, but I have never been a patient in a hospital where I felt I was being treated like a family member. I could not have asked for more compassionate care than what I received from Emily.
