November 2017 Honoree
emily underhill, RN, BSN
As a nurse you are asked to do many things for a patient; some things become second nature and some you haven't done since school. A patient came in with a stroke and is trying every day to smile. During his stay at SEMC, he realized that it was difficult to care for his smile. He wanted to floss and only had one hand to do this. As his nurse, Emily helped him and became his second hand. These little things that can be done to make patients feel better may seem insignificant but to him, I am sure it meant feeling a bit more like himself.
Thank you, Emily, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
