Emily was an absolute ray of sunshine. I looked forward to seeing her during her shift every day; she made being at the hospital bearable. When I was not feeling well, she sat beside me and talked with me about what was going on. She explained my infection, what kind of meds they are using, and just made me feel better about the situation and being here. She was always on time with meds, and she informed (educated) me about what going on regarding my feeds, procedure, and my meds. She answered every question I had thoroughly. I saw her helping her fellow nurses with anything they asked for. If someone were to ask for help, she was one of the first ones to jump in and help. You can tell that all the nurses on 9A love her and appreciate her.

Emily advocated for me by making sure that my pain was always under control, and that all my tests were performed so I could leave the hospital on time. The EKG machine broke, and she followed through and made sure I was one of the first people that had their test performed. The doctors required this EKG before I was allowed to leave the hospital. When thinking of leadership, I think of how she will take time to explain to another nurse and educate if asked. She is very confident of her knowledge and is not afraid to show it. Emily is a very patient oriented nurse. She makes sure all her patients are well taken care of. She does it in a way that made me feel safe and comfortable when my mom could not be here to take care of me. She is such a wonderful person and the personality to match. Her goal is to make sure everyone gets the absolute best care that she can possibly give.
