I had to get 2 units of blood. We didn’t get started til mid-afternoon, and Nurse Emily said it would be late that evening till we got done, but it would save me from coming back the next day. We finished up about 6:30 that evening. She had to go unlock the front door to let my wife and me out. It was raining hard outside. Emily said, "Let me go get your car for you." "No," I said, "you will get soaking wet." I guess she thought I wouldn’t get as wet. "What kind of car do you have?" she asked. "It’s a Chevy Impala", I replied. "My parents had one of those, and it was a great car. Now give me the keys and tell me where it is parked." Away she went, no raincoat, no umbrella. She brought it to the front door, under the overhang, got out of the car, soaked to the bone. My wife and I got in with not one raindrop on us. She wished us a safe trip home, and away we went. Emily went way above and beyond the call of duty.
