I was admitted on Friday for severe abdominal pain coupled with a fever. Emi was the nurse assigned to me. She was soft-spoken, pleasant and very compassionate. There are times when the challenges and the volume of our duties affect how we interact with others; often quite negatively. This was not the case with Emi. She patiently explained procedures and answered the many questions presented by my family and myself. It was refreshing to experience such a bedside manner.
Emi even empathized when I expressed my dislike for the taste of the medication. She was never dismissive or abrupt. She was apologetic each time she intruded or had to wake me. I could not have asked for a better nurse to assist in my care. Nursing is not solely about administering medications; an important component is the humanity and the compassion expressed. There was no shortage of these components in the care Emi provided. Thank you, Emi.
