it was super sad to tell her goodbye as we had enjoyed her so much as our nurse and appreciated all of her encouragement, positivity, and support during our stay.
I had spent a lot of time researching and planning out my birth. I was prepared for it not going perfect and as expected, it did not. I had to have an emergency c-section. I also went to the hospital planning on staying for the minimum days allowed. I ended up staying as long as I could and was sad when it was time to leave as the care I and my baby received was so comforting, professional, and top quality thanks to Emma Haunsperger. She was our overnight nurse. The first fun thing we got to experience with her was when I had my catheter removed and I had to use the restroom within a certain amount of time. I definitely started to panic as the clock was ticking (if I didn't go on my own, I would have to have a catheter again) she was so encouraging and had a lot of things that I could try to help. One of the many encouraging ideas she had was a special drink she made for me special, and it worked and kicked in when I had less than 10 minutes left to go (Thank you so much Emma)! Night checks are not very fun for most people but she scheduled everything to minimize interruptions to our sleep, but I never once wasn't happy to see her. I felt so comfortable when she cared for our daughter. I had planned on keeping my baby with me every night we were in the hospital but ended up sending her to Emma every night we were there as we felt so comfortable with her in Emma's care. My baby was the only one in the nursery and Emma always made us feel good when she gave us updates saying how perfect my baby was for her. Emma was also the nurse present for the c-section so was one of the first people to hold our baby and was clearly special to our family from the start. We really appreciated getting Emma during our whole stay as it was very comforting to see the same face every night. Emma also taught my husband how to swaddle and that became one of his best skills as he grew to love swaddling our baby every night for bed but we both agree that Emma had some extra special touch when swaddling her. On our last night with Emma, it was super sad to tell her goodbye as we had enjoyed her so much as our nurse and appreciated all of her encouragement, positivity, and support during our stay. Thank you, Emma - we love you!
