July 2025 Honoree
Emma Puka-Beals, RN, MSN
I was so fortunate to have Emma as my nurse for the labor and delivery of my third baby. I was disappointed to need an induction for this delivery due to a relatively traumatic and difficult induction previously. Emma was so kind and patient with my fear and anxiety, despite my being in the very fortunate position to deliver a healthy baby without complications. She went above and beyond throughout her shift to help me progress my labor as naturally as possible, spending a lot of time helping me through position changes, making sure I had everything that I needed to be as comfortable as possible, and finally exerting significant physical effort to provide counterpressure throughout contractions. Her skill as a nurse, combined with compassion as a person, helped me to bring my baby boy into the world the way I had dreamed of, despite beginning labor as an induction. I will always be so thankful for Emma and think of her often, especially as we celebrate birthdays each year and reflect on his birth!
Thank you, Emma, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
