A patient in NTICU was getting an outpatient medication through a pump that was attached to a J-Tube. With the patient being admitted to the hospital, the family found out they would have to self-pay for medication. The cost of the medication being used to treat her Parkinson's disease would be approximately $500 per day. Emma Rodriguez was amazing. She got the phone number from the patient's significant other to start calling about the medication.
Emma not only called the hospital pharmacy but also the Insurance Company and the company providing the medication at home. After multiple phone calls, Emma got enough medication to be sent to the patient's home, which could be brought in to give Cox Pharmacy enough time to order and get the medication in. Emma went above and beyond to assure this patient had what she needed. What a caring and compassionate nurse!
