Emmanuel deserves this award for not only his nursing skills, but the compassion he has in his heart. I was a patient at Sanford Hospital. I had surgery on my neck and cheek. Emmanuel always made sure I was comfortable and that my incision was clean. Emmanuel was very personal, he wanted to know how I was and who I was. He was involved in my care, not just a pop in and out nurse.
Emmanuel is also an RN who showed empathy to me, as I also have neurofibromatosis. My family and friends were visiting me when my food was delivered. I notice the food server also had NF. We talked briefly and I gave her a bracelet that I'm selling to raise money for a cure. The compassion in the room filled me with tears, including Emmanuel.
Knowing I was checking out, Emmanuel told me he wanted to buy a bracelet (they're $5.00.) My husband and I handed him a bracelet, telling him we wanted him to have the bracelet. He gave me $20.00. I told him to keep his $20.00, but he said he wanted to donate it. That is the biggest donation I'd ever received. I never felt so appreciative. Sanford Health Hospital is very lucky to have Emmanuel. They've got a winner working for them.
