He's kind, listens, and takes the time to get the care done right.
I am recovering from major C-spine surgery. Enrique is my very first overnight nurse after surgery. As you can imagine, getting settled for the first night is a challenge, to say the least. First, Enrique's bedside manner is the best I have ever experienced. He's kind, listens, and takes the time to get the care done right.
Second, he's experienced. I believe his time spent in the ER has prepared him for any challenge he may face. As I am a former US Army Special Forces medic and Paramedic for 16 years, we shared a bit and he's up for any task sent his way.
Third, Enrique has already gone way beyond the call of duty. My stay began well after all the ancillary hospital facilities closed. And my surgery leaves me unable to swallow solid food. My wife made a run to HEB for some Jello and pudding. Enrique took the time after his rounds to check in and make sure I was squared away.
Finally, before sleep, Enrique got me water, a spit cup, and my toothbrush and paste to allow me a little dignity and brush my teeth to take care of the cat that died in my mouth after six hours of surgery. You have no idea how a small gesture like this makes me feel so much better. I cannot thank him enough. If I stay a second night tomorrow, I hope he's my nurse again. He's the kind of gentleman I would go out of my way to get to know outside of the hospital, as he's genuinely a kind soul. I hope y'all recognize his unique set of exceptional experiences and reward him with a long-tenured position.
