Recently, Eric cared for a young man who had been through quite a complicated course, multiple surgeries and a prolonged stay on the ventilator; his family was distraught over the decision they had to make to withdraw life support. The patient’s only true love was his Sheltie dog, but per our policies animals are not allowed in the ICU. Eric jumped through multiple hoops, gaining clearance from Security, Infectious Disease and upper management to get the dog here in time for his passing. Eric’s patient died at peace with his dog curled up in bed beside him and his entire family around his bed. Eric made a traumatic experience for this young man and his family peaceful and comfortable. Eric you are wonderful to work with and an exceptional nurse, you go above and beyond every time, you show up for work with a smile and a fantastic attitude. You may technically be Float Pool, but we in ICU definitely consider you one of us! I am so proud to work with you!

Thank you, Eric, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
