My husband was transferred to SDU the end of November after being in ICU for 51 days. Whenever Eric is assigned to my husband, he always finds time to "rally" him into trying to get better. He consistently encourages him to move his arms, legs, fingers that were stiffened due to being bed-ridden for a long time so he can get the motion back.
The best result was when one day he had an emotional conversation with my husband convincing him to push himself a little more so he can go home to his family. Eric was persistent in reminding my husband to wean himself off the ventilation and be able to breathe normally.
Today my husband is on a speech valve, eating pureed food (although he hates the taste of it) and taking that road to recovery slowly. Our family is a firm believer of the power of prayer and we are thankful for our compassionate nurse, Eric Barrameda.
