Eric mobilized each one of his patients to the courtyard attached to our unit. We normally do well to place them in a chair or walk them around the unit. Eric, however, took them each outside and watched them for at least 30 minutes and went out of his way to make the patients comfortable. They were able to socialize with each other, see the sun, and enjoy the pleasant fall weather. Two of the patients were max assist to the wheelchair, so this took extraordinary, discretionary effort. The patients all were so grateful, and the other RNs/CNAs are inspired to follow Eric's good example. This is what great nursing care is all about.
