We hear about mother and baby “bonding,” but for one scared young women ready to deliver her first baby, it was all about bonding with Eric Fletcher. From the time the patient arrived at Saint Agnes until she had her baby, Eric was right there, guiding her, calming her, explaining in detail what would happen next. As soon as Eric met her at the Outpatient Center, he sensed her anxiety about the whole experience (getting an IV started, having an epidural, even having the baby), so his consideration for her was paramount … and to this patient, it definitely showed enough to nominate him for the DAISY Award.
The nominator concluded, “… I feel that Eric Fletcher is the perfect example of what a nurse should be!”
