Erica Beckom, RN

When I was rounding on 3 North recently, a young female patient said she wanted to recognize her nurse, Erica. The patient had to have a PICC line placed and was extremely upset and concerned about the procedure and began crying. She said that Erica showed her compassion and held her hand throughout the entire PICC procedure and that she would never forget that act of kindness shown to her. She then asked if I would send Erica to her room to thank her again. When I spoke to Erica about it and thanked her for what she did, she smiled and said, "Yes, I did hold her hand, "and then she walked straight to the patient's room as was requested. We need more staff like Erica, and we are so thankful to have her as part of our team. Thank you for making a positive difference in every life you touch.
