When a fellow Baylor Scott & White Health nurse presented to labor and delivery for the birth of her child, she was met by an amazing nurse by the name of Erica.
Erica's patient care and bedside manner were genuine, competent, and compassionate. She was attentive to her patient's progression of labor and anticipated her needs so that the patient did not even need to use her call light. She was always there.
Erica's diligence and patience helped guide the patient to prepare for the delivery of her daughter in the middle of the night. The doctor had another patient that needed prompt attention at the same time Erica's patient was ready to deliver. As a result of excellent teamwork, The doctor was able to safely deliver the baby and then leave to tend to her other patient. It was at this point that Erica flawlessly, and without any complaint, managed both the care of the mother and the newborn baby. Both the mother and baby needed some additional care at first, but Erica was able to coordinate efficiently so that everything went smoothly.
Even during recovery, Erica was very responsive to all of the patient's needs and helped to make a smooth transition to post-partum.
To quote the patient, "As a fellow BSW nurse, I wanted to take the time to thank her for her exceptional patient care and excellent teamwork skills. That is rare these days. She is a DAISY Nurse."
Congratulations on being exactly the nurse that this patient needed and exceeding expectations for exceptional care delivery.
