Erica provided selfless service and exceptional medical treatment to my husband and me on a day when our lives forever changed.
My husband had a brain aneurysm. We came to the ER in a private vehicle from church that day after he began having symptoms. Erica was his RN. Being an RN myself, I was anxious and worried, but I had advanced medical knowledge. Erica allowed me to quickly come back and be by my husband's side while they provided him medical treatment.

Following the CT scan, we quickly got a notification that he would be airlifted to the UTSW Neurosurgery team for the next part in his treatment. While they were about to load him into the Air Vac helicopter, he began having a seizure, which required him to return inside the ER and be intubated and stabilized before transport. Erica was there every step of the way, informing me of everything and helping me stay calm during a very stressful time.

Once he got airlifted to UTSW, she returned inside the ER to make sure I was ok. I had a plan for packing and driving to UTSW Dallas. She soon found out we had 3 dogs and immediately gave me her phone number and offered to watch them if I couldn't find anyone, so I could go and be by my husband's side. It turns out I did not need her, but the empathy and kindness she displayed were overwhelming and made such a lasting impact.

Since that day, I have continued to update Erica of his progress, and she has continued to provide kind support and prayers. He had surgery that lasted 4.5 hours to treat his major subarachnoid hemorrhage, spent 16 days intubated, 26 days in ICU, and 35 days at UTSW. We are now on the road to a miraculous recovery and will transfer to Hendrick inpatient rehab soon.

Erica provided selfless service and exceptional medical treatment to my husband and me on a day when our lives forever changed. God bless her and her continued endeavors.
