My husband and I brought our sweet daughter in with just a little concern that something was not quite right with her. After her assessment by the ED physician and a questionable x-ray, we were given a few possibilities of her diagnosis, most of those requiring emergency surgery. Both of us being in the medical field were terrified for our 9-month-old. The one calming force in the overwhelming night was our nurse, Erica. Throughout the night she kept us updated on results, answered our questions and took care of our daughter as if she were her own. I see in Erica kindness, compassion, and a true love for what she does. Luckily our daughter did not have any of those diagnoses requiring surgery. We are thankful for that, and for Children's Hospital and our wonderful nurse Erica. This profession is truly her calling, and I believe she should be recognized for going above and beyond the call of duty.
