Her calming presence and expertise helped to ease my fears and made a difficult situation much easier to manage.
I am nominating ICU nurse Erica because she consistently went above and beyond in caring for me, and her attentiveness to detail is outstanding. I was impressed by her thoroughness and her ability to anticipate my needs before I even asked. She has a gift for making patients feel at ease, and her kind and compassionate demeanor was a source of comfort during a difficult and scary time.
A few of her many caring actions really stand out in my mind. Erica took the time to make sure all of my tubes were draining frequently, which relieved uncomfortable pressure for me without me needing to mention them. She always seemed to appear when I started to feel the discomfort like she just knew what I needed, and that instinct she has for patient needs really put me at ease. I felt like I didn't need to worry about anything, so I could focus on recovery. Other things were my Foley catheter removal, which I was anxious about, but she seemed to recognize that without me saying anything and removed it without me feeling embarrassed. As a very body-shy person, this meant a lot to me. She also listened and answered my questions and engaged me in friendly conversation that brightened up my ICU stay.
Under her care, I felt encouraged to get up and get on my way to recovery because I trusted her and the way she instructed me. In summary, Erica is an exceptional nurse who consistently demonstrated excellence in her work. She is caring, and attentive, and always went above and beyond for me. Erica is one of the most compassionate nurses I have ever worked with. She goes above and beyond for all of her patients. Erica is very knowledgeable in all areas of nursing. She takes the time to explain situations, procedures, tests, and POC to her patient and the patient's family. Erica goes out of her way to help all of her patients.
